Fun to be One - Part One

Ethan turned one on Sunday with great fan fare. His weekend was full of family and friends, parties, cake and lots of firsts; foods (eggs and chocolate), shoes and forward-facing car seats! Grammy and Grandpa arrived Friday night just in time to decorate and make appetizers. Saturday would be a long day seeing as Ethan's first haircut was scheduled for 8:00 am. Yikes. The boy did great and came home looking cuter than usual! We were home for a short 1.5 hour nap, just in time to make a grand entrance at Grandma Trish and Grandpa Doug's. Ethan's party was fabulous, filled with family, friends, kids, babies (Matt & Bridget brought 9 day old Alex) and even a puppy!

We unveiled the cake, belted out Happy Birthday and let Ethan dig in. Given his outgoing and curious personality, along with his appetite, it was no surprise he attacked the cake! We attempted to open gifts and discovered that what they say about kids is true -- after they open the first one, their interest quickly dissipates. It was a memorable celebration and we're so thankful.

Here are some photos:

He wasn't too sure of the singing at first. Poor kid, I made him wear the party hat.

Alissa had to wears hers as well!
Good job!
Kids and presents -- perfect

Now we're left to wonder what the next year will bring!
Thanks again; especially to my parents and Trish & Doug. It was the best of the best of parties.
