Jingle Bells: Christmas was truly merry and bright. We packed a ton into our trip home and it was great to see how much Ethan enjoyed seeing his cousins, grandparents, great grandparents and friends (aka our friends' kids). Ethan was buried in gifts at the Lewis’s on Christmas Eve-Eve, but was really only interested in bouncing on this big read ball and playing with Lanie. After a bath, it was time for a little photo shoot with the cute matching jammies! Ethan was too tired to make it through Christmas Eve dinner, but was ready to roll Christmas morning. After hours and hours of gift opening, we ate my Mom’s famous breakfast and then headed to the Spanos. Our afternoon was filled with food, more gifts and lots of laughter. We finally wrapped up the celebrating and after a bedtime snack of Cherry Cheesecake from Auntie Lisa, Ethan promptly fell into bed. He gave us a very nice gift and slept until 7:40 the next day.
We spent a day in the city with the Hozzian clan, Ricobene's and all. Really good to see eveyone.
White Knuckles: Our ride home to Chicago was pure hell as the lovely Minnesota weather carried well into Wisconsin. It was snowy and icy for a loooong time. It took us an extra 2.5 hours to get home, add a tired crabby 1 year old and a panting golden retriever and let me tell you…I had never been so happy to see the south suburbs! We highly recommend against driving through Wisconsin on a snowy, icy day.
Gold Medals: Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Germ and Christie and Aaron all get gold medals for putting up with us and our mess while we were at home. It's amazing how a family of three + a dog can descend on a perfectly clean and neat house and immediately turn it upside down. In the midst of that, they all managed to pull off another memorable Christmas celebration and some excellent food and tradition were had by all.
We were able to see lots of friends (but not all), Mike and I ate every Chicago favorite food we wanted, spent lots and lots of time with family and watched the Bears lose to the Texans. Aside from that, it was a grand Christmas!!
