A Busy Four(th)

The long four day weekend was just what we needed, although, if you asked Mike and me, we would both say we didn't really rest much!

We kicked off the weekend with the annual Langford Neighborhood Fourth of July run, which got us all up at the crack of dawn and forced me to break Ethan's schedule by taking away his morning nap so we could see Mike run. The weather was great, the sun was shining and Mike shaved off a minute and half from last year's time. On another note -- I registered Mike and I for the TC marathon 10 mile today -- yikes!! I start my running club and training this Thursday...

After a quick rest at home, we geared up for a trip to the zoo and some Chicago beef! We introduced Ethan to Chris & Rob's, a Chicago eatery, which we cannot get enough of.
The highlight of our weekend was heading up north. We were very grateful Pete & Tristian invited us up to her family cabin. Only about an hour out of the city, this place is IT! Cabin life always gets ahold of us and we always start our journey home with "We have to save $$ for a lake home." Tristian's family has one heck of a place; tons of land, 2+ cabins, boats (pontoon & speed), jet skis and home-cooked good old American food. It was full of family, friends, kids, dogs and naturally with Mike and Pete, music. Ethan had a blast -- tried a biter biscuit for the first time, played with Leighton who is just 2 weeks younger and about twice as mobile and got more kisses than knew what to do with. It was such a great trip, next time, we are staying much longer!

We closed the weekend with a trip to the dog park so Lays could swim and a bath for the boy.
